    SPACE CATS

    close

    Composer: BR Pearson

    Performed by: Heavy TIN

Description: "Heavy Tin has been added to the list of precious metals based on the sound of "Space Cats." I hear Tristano (he would be 92) still making it happen with a modernistic rhythm section." Quote by Miff Mole KSDS-FM Jazz88.3

    TONES TRANSCENDENTAL

    close

    Composer: B.R. Pearson

    Piano: B.R. Pearson

Description: If you're looking for the next page in piano composition. Not too abstract. Something tonal and not remotely minimalist. A style of composition that is obviously rooted in the best practices of the past yet a style that is vibrant and new. B.R. Pearson has some discs I shall highly recommend. Tones Transcendental is most striking for both its iconoclastic technique and unmitigated scale. 53:30 for the recorded version and reported length of two thousand plus measures. This work incorporates jazz into a classical framework with organic ease. It is clearly a classical work. Yet, Transition No. 2 could sit well as a grand jazz composition and The Transitive, the finale movement, incorporates a classical-jazz or the other way around. This is a masterful work on a grand scale. Impressively cohesive from beginning to end.
